Every year there is some type of an Urban Art Project that is supposed to inspire the residents in NYC. A few years ago the city had The Gate Project in Central Park and millions fled to the park to walk the gated paths. This year the city has decided to take part in something called Portraits of Hope. School children and those that are sick in hospitals are able to express themselves by painting large flowers on sheets on weatherproof panels that are collaged onto various structures, etc. Some of these places include: Planes, Scaffolding, Race cars, Airport Watchtower, Boats, Hope Tower, and more. This year the NYC part of Portraits of Hope is called Garden In Transit. Check out the website to see how neat this project is. The taxi cabs will have the flowers painted on them until December and it is a way for the children to see something that they have taken part in being displayed. It is Art Therapy in its truest form. I was walking to Penn Station the other day and I walked by a warehouse where I could see the Taxi's being painted inside. I decided that I wanted to volunteer and so I am going to paint next Tuesday at JFK. I'll let you know how it goes. Flower Power!

WOW, that is really touching. I love when people receive inspiration to make this world a better place. What a great thing in so many ways.
