I left on an emergency trip last Saturday night to El Salvador (Central America). Jose called me at about 11:30 pm and told me that his brother had just died of kidney failure. I had about 25 minutes to get packed and get myself to JFK so I could catch the quickest flight out of NYC. I got to the airport at 1:00 am and I was on my way. It was an amazing trip....probably even more fun than my first trip to El Salvador 3 years ago. I was joking around in the airport with the pilot and the attendants and ended up being upgraded to a free seat in first class....score! Imagine that.....a free upgrade to Central America....Sweet! We spent most of Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday focused on the funeral and burial of Manuel (Jose's brother) and then we all played the rest of the week. We went to the beach, traveled to a water park on a ranch, took a fishing boat out to the ocean and then to an island and swam, etc. Tons of fun! I came back a week later with a bunch of loot and a nice toasty tan. I'll share some pictures like I did from my trip to Costa Rica in January.

I'm sorry to hear about Jose's brother. Was it expected? I am glad that the trip was fun-can't wait to see pictures!
He had been in and out of the hospital for a couple of weeks but things went down hill quickly. He was going to have a kidney transplant and all of a sudden took a turn for the worst. He went into a coma and they decided to take him off oxygen. He only made it an hour after they took him off of the oxygen. Pretty sad! He was a great man and left behind 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
I was beginning to wonder where you went mia. so sad to hear that. it's always sad. looking forward to the pics!
