I finally made some fun cupcakes for Easter! I have seen some great cupcakes (click HERE to see them) on a friends blog. I asked her to give me some "pointers" on the frosting and then I went for the plunge. They turned out pretty cute!
I bought these adorable cupcake wrappers and used them today. Unfortunately, I failed to remember that a DARK cake mix would take ALL of the color out of the cups during baking. Oops!
So, then I decided to put a each cupcake in a fresh wrapper. The "look" was adorable and exactly what I wanted....but....the wrappers were too big and didn't fit snug to the cupcake. Oh well! Lesson learned....if you want the cute designs to show....use a white or light cake mix.
I also learned another tip from that same friend. She said that it is nice to line your frosting bag so that you don't have to clean out the bag. Want to really know what I am trying to say? Click HERE to see her post. Anyway...this is where this came into action.
I bought a little kit that was filled with plastic triangles that you could fill like the picture above. Well, I couldn't find a bag of JUST orange candy and so I just filled them with whatever candy I had.
I had a bunch of leftovers and I realized that I could use them to line my icing bag. They worked like a dream!
I learned some things making these cupcakes but I still had a lot of fun. Can't wait to make more. Anyone have a birthday soon? I will be looking for reasons so I can practice. Ha!
