Travel Buddy

I got a fun package in the mail this week......inside I found a letter from my nephew and his "travel buddy" who came to visit me. Some of you might have heard of this type of school project before....most teachers have gotten the idea from a book called Flat Stanley. It is where you can send "Stanley" or your "travel buddy" on a trip and the people that get visited send back letters and pictures with all of the adventures that the "flat" friend go to go on. Did you get it? I am not sure I explained it well....but anyway....here are some of the things that the travel buddy got to do in NYC. We took the Long Island Railroad from my house to 34th Street..........

We got out of Penn Station and saw the Empire State Building........We walked down 8th Avenue to Times Square 42nd Street and watched a movie.......We walked around Times Square a little bit but almost got run over by the millions of tourists that are there to take pictures, etc.......We took a look at the pretzels, hot dogs, roasted peanuts, and shish-ka-babs on a street vendor cart but didn't buy anything because it really isn't too tasty.....we just checked it out since he had never seen that kind of a cart in Arizona before......Then we took the Subway home.....our line is the 7 train to Queens.......it was a good trip in the city. Now we have to see where he wants to travel next.....

How funny! Tell Meg that her "flat Stanley" can visit me any time that he wants to. This is the 2nd time that I have gotten to show a "flat Stanley" around NYC.....one of my other nephews sent me their "flat Stanley" a couple of years ago.
