We started off the day by visiting my school and checking out my classroom. Then we headed off for an enormous breakfast in College Point. My dad has watched surf competitions at Rockaway Beach on TV for years..... so I took them there so they could see it first hand.
Then it was off to Coney Island.....
We stopped at Nathans for a hot dog and to warm up a bit......
We drove around Brooklyn and checked out some of the neighborhoods that I lived in when I served my mission there. I had to take them to Di Fara's Pizza to watch the "master" make his pies and then to taste a piece. If you click HERE....you can see a video of him making his pizzas that I took last year. Yum!
Then it was off through Grand Army Plaza and over to Carroll Gardens to visit Sarah at her school...It was really fun to have my parents go with me to her classroom. She had her 4th and 5th graders there and so they played us a song. Sarah is so talented and she truly is helping to shape and mold some amazing musicians.
On the way back to Queens....we stopped off in DUMBO and walked around under the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. It was beautiful to watch the sun start to set on the city.
We were ready to get back to Queens after a long day of being in the car. We went back to Corona and walked around. My mom and I had fun looking at all of the little ghetto shops.
My dad stopped off to get a haircut at Jose's barber.....
My mom and I decided to stop by the thread shop and get my eyebrows threaded. Only 4 bucks.....you cant beat that!
We ended the night at my favorite little Greek place. I took my brother and his family there last month when they visited the East Coast. It was a nice end to a long day!
