Sit back and relax.....

What do you do the last day of school in a hot and humid, empty, NYC classroom at the end of June with no air conditioning? If you are lucky, you have a cool teacher like Ms. Munroe who pops a school bus full of popcorn and lets you watch movies with the lights low. You should have heard the crunching in that room. It was louder than the soundtrack no the movie....no joke!

I told the kids that they could bring in movies the next day as long as they were G or Disney (maybe it was PG...I cant remember). This little guy is one of the brightest in my class....buts something was a little "off" today. You may have visited NYC and seen (or heard about) the people who walk around selling bootleg copies of movies before they have even come out in the theaters. Well, they are either copies of the movies that someone has gotten their hands on and mass produced for "ghetto" street selling OR they have copies of movies that people have made by going to the movie and then literally video taping the movie screen. If you are lucky, your copy might have people coughing, getting up to go get popcorn, or even a few shakes and bounces from the guy taping it. Nice! Well, this boys dad sells these movies out of his backpack on the street for a living. It is actually very common here. I am sure that he had full reign of a movie selection at home and somehow he chose this movie. I somehow didn't think it was quite appropriate to share with a first grade class in a public school. Holy Cow!!
