It is no secret that gazillions of famous people live in NYC....right? Almost everyone who lives here as seen a "famous" person on the street at one point or another. Well, I have too....but it is usually at a festival, a book signing, when they are filming a movie, etc. I have seen Jet Li, Morgan Freeman, Rachael Ray, Jewell, Ben Affleck, Kathie Lee Gifford, Tony Bennett, a guy I thought was Johnny Depp (I am still not sure), Terri Erwin (Crocodile guy's wife), just to name a few. I have also seen various "famous guests" that have appeared on the Today Show, etc. Well, today was different...... I have never just seen someone just walking down the street "doing their personal business." It is one thing to see someone all "dolled up" for an interview or appearance and it is another to just SEE THEM with their kids buying groceries. WELL..... I was walking to the train today after church and I saw a street fair on 2nd Avenue. I decided to walk through it so I would have something to look at in an attempt to make the walk seem a little faster. I was casually walking along and BOOM....I walked right into to John Leguizamo. How funny is that! We literally did the little "step to the left and then step to the right...do you want to dance?" thing. Do you know what I mean? I walked past him and then I immediately turned around and looked at him as he walked away. I was soooooo curious to see if it was really him and so I walked up to him and said, "Just to solve my curiosity....are you...?" I didn't even finish my sentence which is probably a good thing because I cant hardly pronounce his last name...and he said, "Yes, I am" before I could say anything else. How funny! He was walking down the street with his wife and son. He was dressed scruffy in a sweats and he had a basketball under his arm and a baseball bat in his hand. Pretty cool! I probably pass by famous people all of time and don't even realize it....no one else around us even noticed him.
He must be a family man because here is a picture of him with his son last year. It looks like he tries to stay "normal" and get out and about with his son....that is great

Cool story. I saw Lou Diamond Phillips in the lobby of the hotel I was staying in Vancouver. It was a similar situation where we almost ran into each other. I guess I was so sure it was him, and feel that I've always been "good with faces", that I didn't have any doubt. He was out the sliding doors before I could do much more about it.
So how does your story end? You asked him the question and he replied to the affirmative, but did you say anything else?

So fun! I think that would be cool to 'dance' with anyone famous!
Brian.... Wow... did Lou sing you La Bamba? Ha! Ya, I was pretty sure that it was John Leguizamo when I saw him but I wanted to make sure to kill in doubt that I had. He just looked like every other "normal" Puerto Rican guy that I see on the street every day. Know what I mean? The funny thing was that yesterday (the day after my original post) he was on Regis and Kelly to promote a new film he is in. Anyway, to answer your questiobn...he just said, "Yes I am" and turned around and walked away. Not too friendly but at least he acknowledged me. I think he was just trying to be "private" because he was with his wife and kid and he looked major scruff-o. Ha.
he's kinda funny lookin....am surprised his look didn't stick out more on the street.
