Shopping Cart 101: Be smarter than the cart!

I usually go grocery shopping in one of the millions of Korean/Chinese markets that surround my house but occasionally I catch the bus or train and go to a more "American-ized" store where I can find various products that I am used to from home. (Did you like that run-on sentence?) Anyway... last week I went to Waldbaum's (kind of like a Fry's or Safeway) in Bayside to get some groceries and I had a HUGE problem when I went to get a cart. You see....you have to pay to get a cart there.....look at the pic below.
All of the carts are linked together like the picture below...and then you have to put a quarter in and push the other carts key into your cartridge and it is supposed to release the cart. Well...let's just say that my key didn't want to work and so I was stuck outside and couldn't start my shopping for about 5 minutes until I got smarter than the cart and got it all figured out. The point of this whole story is...be glad that you don't have to use these little key things at your supermarkets in the West....walk your carts back to the cart corrals in the parking lots or your local Fry's or Safeway or you might find that your carts are all locked together someday...hmmmm!
