Lunar New Year Cooking....

Last Sunday (the 14th....also Valentines Day) was Lunar New Year. It is a BIG deal in NYC and especially where I live. I am definitely a minority in a sea of Asian people (mostly Chinese and Korean) in my immediate neighborhood. It is a lot of fun and the food is amazing! I decided to make some homemade Chinese food last weekend to CELEBRATE! I made Orange Chicken and a Chinese Noodle Salad. The chicken turned out really good but a little sweet. I'll probably just get it from the local corner Chinese take-out if I ever have the desire for Orange Chicken again. The noddle salad was SUPER yummy...but I really didn't follow the recipe. I went to the store and grabbed a bunch of vegetables. Then I got home and realized I bought things that the recipe didn't even call for and I lacked a bunch of veggies. Oh well....my version was yummy too! My veggies included: mushrooms, snow peas, red pepper, zucchini, red cabbage, napa cabbage, cilantro, scallions, and spinach. Then I topped it off with the dressing from the recipe. Yum! Of course....the meal had to be ended with some chocolate covered fortune cookies from Emily's. Yum!
Happy New Year......again!
