Pie Time...

I went berry picking in Long Island a few weeks ago. I went there with the plan to pick blueberries but only found hundreds of bushes that were far from being ready to be picked. I ended up picking tons of raspberries and loved every minute of it. So, what do you do with all of your raspberries after you have already eaten them in shakes, on top of yogurt, and in your cereal for a few weeks? You make pies! I happened to make this pie on one of the most HUMID days of the year. With that said, I just cut big fat strips for the crust and threw them down.

It was pretty delicious and fresh tasty but a little too tangy. I made a 2nd pie the next week and added a little more sugar...it was perfect!

What is this you ask? Well, what would you do if you had a freshly baked pie and you had an hour to waste before you went to a dinner party with it. Remember, you are 45 minutes away from your house and it is 98 degrees outside with about 5000% humidity. I knew you would say that....you would walk around Walgreens with your pie in a shopping bag so that it wouldn't melt away...right?! Ha!

Yes, I threw the pie in gift bag and walked it around the store for an hour because I didn't want to run out my gas with the air conditioner. It worked out great!

Here is the 2nd pie. It turned out equally delish...just a little sweeter! I think I like my rustic looking lattice work. Just cut some rough pieces and throw them down..ha!

You could have bought some vanilla ice cream and some plastic spoons and had a party right there in the store! You missed your chance for a good ole time.

You are my hero! I am so intimidated by pie crust making. I have tons of beautiful pie plates and tins and I look forward to the day when it actually happens for me, but for now I'm just a bystander. Sigh. Your pie looks delish!!! And good for you! I cannot tell you how many things I take into stores with me to keep them fresh or from melting when I have multiple stops to make. Let them stare - ha ha!
