I have always heard about Sunken Meadow in Long Island. I knew that there was a beach there but I thought it was more like a lake. Well, I went to find out.
I found out that it is the ocean but I now understand why I thought it was lake....the water is absolutely STILL. It is the Long Island Sound and there are NO waves. The only movement in that water is from the kids splashing around you. I felt like I was going to see the Loch Ness Monster lurching out of the water....maybe it had something to do with the mist that permeated the overcast and humid air. It was kind of an "experience" as opposed to just a visit to the beach. I am not sure that I will go back because I like WAVES...but it was an adventure.
