I ventured out to Port Jefferson today. I have heard about it from friends for years but never took the time to go there. My experience and "review" of the area is a little mixed. I was told that it was a really beautiful port town with lots of shops and seafood. It is true that it is pretty but more than that, I think it is neat because I didn't really feel like I was in NY when I was there. I haven't seen any other port towns as neat looking as this one in NY. The problem was that I probably didn't experience its true beauty because the day was steamy and a bit misty because of the humid weather. The other thing was that the food at the Steam Pot was absolutely HORRIBLE. It looked like the food was purchased from the Schwan's truck. I could have gone to the store and gotten a bunch of cheap frozen clam strips and fish sticks and fried them up to taste and look better than the food at that place. I was waiting for the "hidden camera" crews to come out and tell me that I was on a TV show and that it was all a joke and that I didn't have to eat it just because I had spend a months salary on it. Ugh!! Too sum up my experience...it was a pretty place but don't EVER go there after you just spent a few days in Maine with the BEST port cities and seafood in the United States.

HA! HA! You are so funny......spending a whole months salary on that yucky tasting fish! When I visit the East again, I will take you ( because you will be back living in the West by then) and I will have you as my tour guide to see all the beautiful spots in Maine and have you order just the right lobster and clams to eat. A deal?
