Happy 4th of July....

Wow...what a HOT 4th of July! It was TRULY steamy and hot in NYC over the 4th of July weekend. Keeping true to tradition I went walking in the city but I really wish that I hadn't. It was unbearable....yuck! I went to Battery Park and walked through a music festival. Then over to the water to watch the boats cruise by the Statue of Liberty.I have seen these "Statue of Liberty" guys in the city for YEARS. It is a TOTAL tourist thing to do....I thought I would take my picture with one of them in celebration of the 4th of July. I also wanted to support the poor guy....can you imagine standing in the sun in that thing all day long? Oh...I loved that he had Obama too!I saw Obama selling flags and talking to the "Chinese Face Painter People" too. He was all over the city....ha!Then I stopped for a minute to take a picture of this sculpture. Anyone know what it is? It was in the World Trade Center Plaza when the towers fell. It was part of the park outside and it was squashed but they salvaged it and put it in Battery Park. What a reminder of such a horrific day!Then a walk down Water Street toward the Seaport. There was a street festival and so I looked at all of the gadgets and goodies that were for sale.Then I stopped to watch some AMAZING street dancers. These guys don't usually grab my attention anymore...but TODAY...this set of street dancers were BY FAR the best that I have ever seen. Amazing!A walk through the Seaport to check out the ships and the Brooklyn Bridge.I had to take off my beads and hang up my bag for a minute. The beads were making me TOO hot and I wanted to throw my bag in the water. It was too steamy to be carrying around this stuff....yuck!Then a stop at one of the gazillion Mister Stoftee trucks that I saw that day. Ice Cream would have been nice but the thought of sticky sugar made me want to die. I needed WATER in a bad way. I think I probably went through about 8 bottles in the 3-4 hours that I was walking around. It was a fun 4th weekend! I think that I will skip out on walking around the city on the 4th next year though. It was toooooooo hot!
