Ciudad de Ammoniah

Here is another thing that I made for my parents to use on their mission. I absolutely LOVE this visual! I used to use this on my mission ALL of the time. A BIG thanks to whoever made it up on my mission! This goes along with the scriptures found in Alma 50: 1-6. Just like Moroni instructed to people to fortify their cities and to make them stronger so that their enemies could not enter and destroy their city...we too should do the same with our families. You set up a "city" as someone reads the scriptures out loud. Each time they mention a different "layer" of protection in the scripture (ditch, tower, heap of earth, etc), you lay down the piece. The layers of protection are to keep out the stones and arrows that could be thrown my the enemy. After reading the scriptures, you discuss current times and how it this can apply to the family. You turn over the pieces and show how we can protect our families "layer by layer." The first layer includes: Faith, Repentance, Baptism, and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. The next layer includes: Priesthood, Relief Society, Young Men's, and Young Women's. Then, FHE, Prayer, Sharing the Gospel, and Visiting Teaching and Home Teaching. The "guarding towers" include: Scriptures, Temples, Church, and the Prophet. The arrows and stones have things written on them like: alcohol, divorce, filthy magazines, bad habits, smoking, etc.
Then you start to remove pieces while posing a question that goes along with that piece. For example, "What would happen if we stopped reading our scriptures?" As you remove pieces, you can show that the arrows and stones get CLOSER to the family. Ultimately, these "bad things" can hurt, weaken, or destroy the family. This may be a little hard to understand on here. Of course, it is written in Spanish too....that might not help it to be very clear for most people either. In any case, if you want more info or have questions, you can email me. Let me know if you make one...I'd love to know how it turns out. Enjoy!
