Tornado Potato...

Introducing....the Tornado Potato, also known as Twisted Chips! It is a potato that has been spiral cut and then fried on a stick. Interesting...right?! I thought it looked kind of like fish bones from a distance. Well, it is the new "fried food" sensation at the carnivals, festivals, and fairs. I saw them last week at the Seaport and tried one out. It was pretty tasty but I still think it was better to look at than to eat. Here, the guy has put a potato in the slicer and he is spinning it and cutting the spiral....Now, he is pushing it onto the stick so that it will be ready to bread and fry.... A dip in a VERY light batter that barely coats it.....They drop it in the frying oil....Then, you choose the powder seasoning that you want and he shakes it on.....That's it! Now you have your tornado potato and you can walk down the street eating it while EVERYONE stops you and says, "Oh, what is that?" Then you can point to the booth and then you see that the line is getting LONGER and LONGER. They seem to be VERY popular!
