What is the Scout Motto? Be Prepared! I normally don't post things like this but I really feel inclined to do so after today. Has anyone been paying attention to the stock market the last few days? The Dow Jones? It has been bouncing around like a ping-pong ball and has fallen the lowest that it has since the Great Depression. Things could really get rough! I am so thankful for my church and for the fact that the leaders have always encouraged the members to "BE PREPARED!" I have had various friends question me and even laugh at the fact that we have a year supply of food. "Why do you have all that food...are you trying to be the next Costco?" Well, the reason is to be ready for anything that might happen. I remember as a missionary.....I was sitting in my apartment in Brooklyn on the morning of 9/11.....my companion and I went straight to the store with all the money that we had with us ($30 dollars or so) and bought food just in case we had issues in NY. We knew that we needed to be prepared in case NYC had a shortage (the world didn't know what was going on that morning and WE for SURE didn't know what was going on) of food and supplies. I am not saying all of this to scare anyone....I just think that it is important....I need to stock my cupboards up on a couple of things too. Here is a reference link that the LDS church put out on Pandemic Planning from Provident Living....click HERE for the web page. This is a great resource for anyone! Also...here is an interesting article that was found on Yahoo Finance.....maybe a few of my friends who have laughed at me in the past would understand if they only read this article....click HERE for the article.
